Cympha Ortho Monitoring

Between-visit monitoring, built into the case file.

The patient ring around every aligner plan.

The same treatment plan you finalise becomes the patient's recurring photo check-in. Five-orientation capture, framed against the planned tooth positions. Photos file against the treatment step automatically — playback shows you the right photo at the right step. Reminders fire on cadence. Everything stays inside the patient's case in Cympha — no separate monitoring vendor, no separate subscription.

Lives inside Cympha and Cympha Studio — no separate site, no separate login.

The clear-aligner gap.

Clear-aligner orthodontics shifts a large fraction of follow-up out of the chair and into the patient's bathroom. The aligners do the mechanical work; the doctor's job between visits is mostly confirming the planned movement is actually tracking. Today, that confirmation happens in one of three ways — and each has a real cost.

In-office check-ins

Every 6–10 weeks. Reliable but expensive in chair time. Long gaps mean problems get caught late.

SMS photos

Light-weight, unstructured. A different angle each week, no consistent frame to compare across visits, no record of which step the patient was on.

Branded monitoring add-ons

Powerful but priced as a separate SaaS, closed-system, and built around the vendor's own treatment planner — not the doctor's existing case file.

How Cympha closes the gap.

Cympha is already the home of the patient's treatment plan. Ortho Monitoring is the natural next ring around it: the plan you finalised becomes the playback track the patient's photos register against.

Framed to the plan, not freehand.

The planned tooth positions show through the camera so the patient lines their mouth up to the plan before snapping. Every Front photo is taken at the same angle, every Left at the same angle. Comparing across visits actually means something — you stack four Front photos and see real progression, not three different head tilts.

Filed against the treatment step, not the calendar.

Each photo is automatically filed against the treatment step the patient was on when they took it — not the date. Step-3 photos land on step 3 of playback whether the patient took them on day 28 or day 31. You never have to remember which step we were on when she sent this.

Stored with the case, not with a vendor.

Every photo lives in your patient's case in Cympha — the same storage that holds the plan, the case files, and the design history. If you ever leave Cympha, the photos travel with the case. No vendor lock-in on your patient's photographs.

The patient's 30-second loop.

End-to-end this is a one-minute round on a phone. The friction is low enough to support bi-weekly compliance.

  1. Tap the link in the reminder email. Sign in. The camera screen opens directly on the case.
  2. A small confirm box shows which treatment step you're on ("Phase 3 — Continue"). That gets calculated automatically from the treatment-start date.
  3. Tap Front. The plan rotates to show what the front of your teeth should look like right now. Open the camera, line your real mouth up to the plan you can see through it.
  4. Snap. Use photo. Front turns green with an OK tag. Tap Left, repeat. Lower, Upper, Right.
  5. Hit Save. Photos sync to your doctor instantly. You're done — the next reminder is two weeks out.

The doctor's side.

Three new surfaces — all inside Cympha, none of them new tools to learn.

Who it's for.

Solo and small practices

An end-to-end "ship the plan, watch the plan, prove the plan" loop, included with the Cympha base subscription. No separate monitoring SaaS, no separate vendor relationship.

DSOs and multi-site groups

A practice-wide dashboard gives clinical directors a single overdue list across every doctor's monitoring patients — a real operational gap today, because between-visit compliance is invisible at the group level.

Aligner labs and OEMs

The workspace can be white-labeled. The capture flow and playback don't depend on whose plan it is — any aligner plan works. A lab can ship a branded patient-facing entry point into the same workspace.

Where it lives.

Ortho Monitoring isn't a separate app. It's woven into Cympha and Cympha Studio — the same accounts, the same case pages, the same login.

For the doctor

A new My Patients dashboard inside Cympha — one row per monitoring patient, with reminder, cadence, pause, and graduate controls.

A new Ortho Monitoring workspace on the case in Cympha Studio — step-paired patient photos alongside the 3D plan.

For the patient

A single, deliberately narrow page listing the case their doctor shared. No dashboard, no general navigation, no other patients — they see exactly what concerns them.

The camera flow inside Cympha Studio — opened straight on their plan, with last month's photos already loaded for comparison.

Reminders on autopilot.

You don't have to remember which patient owes you photos this week. Cympha sends the reminder on schedule, escalates the language if a round is missed, and lets you nudge a specific patient with one click — no scheduling tools, no spreadsheets, no staff time spent chasing.

A reminder every two weeks

  • •Default cadence is 14 days; change it per patient
  • •Reminders advance automatically after each set of photos
  • •Same email template the rest of Cympha already uses

A nudge when a round slips

  • •If a patient skips a full round, the next reminder reads sharper
  • •Surfaces the slip on your dashboard, not just to the patient
  • •Catches drop-off early, before it becomes a chairside problem

One-click manual nudge

  • •Send reminder now from the patient's row on your dashboard
  • •Won't double-send — Cympha rate-limits so a slip of the finger doesn't spam the patient
  • •Same friendly template, sent immediately

Privacy + scope.

What's captured

The patient's photos and the treatment plan they were taken against. No free-form messaging, no biometric template, no third-party trackers in the camera flow. The camera frame never leaves the patient's phone before reaching your Cympha account.

Where it's stored

Inside the patient's case in your own Cympha account — the same place your other case data already lives. You control retention. Graduating the case stops new photos.

Who can read it

You (the doctor). The patient. Authorised practice staff if you granted access. Cympha support if you escalate a ticket. No other patients, no other doctors — not even other patients of yours.

What the patient sees

Their own treatment plan, their own photos, for their own case. The regular Studio toolbars are hidden in monitoring — the patient cannot edit the plan, change tooth positions, or export anything. The account is deliberately narrow.

Plan. Share. Treat. Monitor.

The plan you finalise is the same plan the patient's photos register against. The same Cympha account holds both. You're not adopting a second tool — you're flipping a switch on a case you already have.

  • Plan — Build the treatment plan in GuideMia or Cympha Studio
  • Share — Ship to a lab or print in-house; share with the patient
  • Treat — Patient wears the aligners through each step
  • Monitor — Patient sends photos on cadence; you see deviation early
  • Loop — Reminders run on autopilot; your dashboard surfaces the slips
