CBCT

CBCT in the browser

Open a CBCT DICOM folder and work with the volume the way you would at a workstation: slices, panoramic views, 3D rendering and your intraoral scans registered on top. Cympha Studio is a browser viewer for DICOM and dental mesh files, and a set of software tools for everything around dental CAD. Free, no install.

A CBCT volume in Cympha Studio with axial, sagittal and coronal slices and an implant placed in the bone

Open a DICOM folder

Point Studio at the DICOM folder from your CBCT. The volume is decoded in your browser and is not uploaded. Uncompressed, JPEG and JPEG lossless series are read.

Volume rendering

3D rendering with an opacity control, a Hounsfield threshold and a 3D-only mode.

Axial, sagittal and coronal slices

Orthogonal MPR slices with the usual slice interaction.

Panoramic view

Draw an arch curve and Studio unfolds the volume along it into a panoramic slice with cross-sections.

Oblique slices

Slices aligned to a model's position, for looking along an implant or a tooth.

Scans and models on the CBCT

Register an intraoral scan

Pick matching points on the scan and the volume; Studio fits and then refines the registration onto the bone surface.

Cross-sections

Show the outline of any mesh in the slice views, so a scan or a design is checked against the bone.

Facial scans

Register a facial scan to the CBCT automatically, so soft tissue and bone share one coordinate system.

Implants

Place implants from a catalogue of 59 brands directly in the slices or in 3D. See implant simulation.

Segmentation and guides

Automatic tooth and bone segmentation from a CBCT runs on your own workstation through the Cympha Agent, as the CBCT Segmentation add-on, and the STL files it produces open in Studio. Surgical guide design is done in GuideMia Implant, which reads the implant plan from Studio.

Questions about CBCT in the browser

Is the CBCT uploaded to a server?
No. The DICOM folder is read and rendered in your browser. It goes to Cympha only when you create a case from it.
Which CBCT scanners work?
Any scanner that exports a DICOM series. Uncompressed, JPEG and JPEG lossless encodings are read.
Can I see a panoramic view?
Yes. Draw the arch curve on an axial slice and Studio reformats the volume along it.
Can Studio segment teeth from the CBCT?
Segmentation runs on your workstation through the Cympha Agent, as the CBCT Segmentation add-on. The resulting STL files open in Studio.
Does Cympha Studio cost anything?
No. Studio is free. Saving to a Cympha case, and a few of the editing tools, ask you to sign in with a Cympha account.
